Trauma Therapy
What is Trauma?
Trauma is any event—or series of events—that overwhelms a person with feelings of fear, threat, or helplessness. It can take many forms, including physical or sexual abuse, witnessing domestic violence, serious accidents, sudden or violent loss of a loved one, neglect, and emotional abuse. These experiences leave a lasting impact on both the mind and body. Understanding trauma is the first step in healing, and I’m here to help you or your loved ones navigate this journey with care and support.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
(Ages 8-18)
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a compassionate, evidence-based approach designed to help children, teens, and their families heal from the lasting effects of traumatic experiences. TF-CBT has proven highly effective for young people (ages 3 to 18) who are coping with difficult emotions like fear, anxiety, depression, or symptoms of PTSD due to trauma. This approach provides children and teens with the tools to understand and manage their emotions, empowering them to reclaim a sense of safety, confidence, and hope. If your child is struggling with the aftermath of a traumatic event, I am here to provide the guidance and support they need to begin the journey to healing.
Cognitive Processing Therapy
(Adults)
For adults working through trauma, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) provides a structured and effective approach to healing. CPT helps you process and make sense of traumatic experiences in a safe, supportive environment. Together, we’ll explore how trauma has impacted your thoughts, beliefs, and daily life, identifying and challenging unhelpful patterns. Through guided sessions, you’ll learn strategies to reframe negative beliefs and reduce the emotional hold of past experiences, helping you move forward with renewed confidence and resilience. Healing is possible, and I am here to walk with you every step of the way.
